The drivers are not specifically installed in the vDesktop, no. However a baseline install of Windows 7 natively has the drivers for it, and when the USB adapter for the headset is inserted, it just installs the drivers and works.
If I missed an item dealing with this issue when looking through the entries in this forum, I beg you pardon. I didn't see it. I am trying to use my Plantronics DSP-100 headset with my two new W-7 64-Bit installations. The device worked perfectly on my Vista equipped PC and also on my XP-Pro machine. Now both have 64-bit versions of Windows 7 (the other machine has Ultimate).
Both recognize the 'Plantronics Headset', but neither is able to load applicable drivers. I accessed the Plantronics support site and learned that the Windows operating system is the source for the necessary drivers.
Searching Microsoft sites yielded the suggestion that I go to the manufacturers's site for assistance. Any suggestions?
PCs: 2 - One with W7, Pro 64Bit, Core2 Quad @ 2.4 Ghz (x4) and 4 Gigs of RAM and one with W7 Ultimate, 64-bit, i7 CPU 920 @2.67Ghz (x8) and 12 Gigs of RAM. I doubt that the architecture has any bearing on the issue.
It seems more likely to be a purely OS-related problem. This is a USB-attached device, and not Bluetooth, isn't it?
Windows 7 should include a driver for most USB audio devices. So it may be a problem with the machine detecting the device properly.
Try opening device manager, and then plug the device in. Do you see any new entries in device manager after doing that?
(Maybe a device showing an error code, or an 'Unknown device'? What's the make/model of the systems that you're using? Want to know if your current hardware & software will work with Windows 7? Check out these links:. This is a USB-attached device, and not Bluetooth, isn't it?

Want to know if your current hardware & software will work with Windows 7? Check out these links:. As Mark said, please open Device Manager and verify whether there is an exclamation mark or question mark after plugging the device. If so, please right click it and click 'Update Driver Software', then click 'Search automatically for updated driver software'.

I appreciate all the input. However, I believe I had already tried everything that was suggested before I actually submitted the question. It is good to know that experienced users can confirm that I apparently was trying all the right things. Yes, this is a usb device. As for make and model: I suppose you can call them (the PCs) Vrodhogrider, Mod I and Mod II, as I built (or at least assembled) both systems to suit myself Mod II started out as a system upgrade and ended as a completely new computer. Device Manager is now showing conflicting information about the device, however.
The headset was correctly identified by the system but the system, under 'other devices', could not and can not load nor update drivers. It could not or would not use any driver from the original Plantronics software disc (the one accompanying the product when purchased) and shows a yellow symbol with exclamation mark. Attempts to update the driver are unsuccessful.
On the other hand, under 'Sound, Video and Game Controllers' the headset is shown as having correct and up-to-date driver installed. Also, the device seems to be functioning, at least adequately. The efficiency seems to be somewhat diminished, but that is an impression only; purely subjective. I cannot see that any action on my part brought about these changes, and I don't understand how the driver can be correct and up-to-date and yet not be. I'd still like to get rid of the remaining exclamation mark; but, I'll take what I can get.
If anyone is really interested, I can give you full specs on both systems. There is nothing odd or exceptional with either one. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all. There is nothing odd or exceptional with either one. Please post the make/model of the motherboard. What do you mean that the efficency of the device seems 'somewhat diminished'? Please look in device manager for the device that has the yellow question mark (the one that won't load drivers), and let us know what the error code is. Also, go to the Details tab for that device (in device mgr) and post the Hardware ID's here. Thanks, Mark Want to know if your current hardware & software will work with Windows 7?
